Job Description
- Reports To: Executive Director
- Hours: Full time; must be routinely available from 8â10 am Pacific Time
- Salary: 90,772 USD annuallyÂ
- Location: Remote
- Paid leave (vacations and holidays): 30 days per year
Position purpose
The Operations Director is accountable for ensuring ACE has talented staff â with diverse skills and perspectives â and for providing them with the tools and environment that sets them up to deliver results and feel like they belong. Youâll also be responsible for optimizing how we work, so that we sustainably and effectively work towards a world where more people help more animals.
Key areas of responsibility
Engagement, satisfaction, & culture â 20%
- Encourage staff feel included and can contribute ideas or share concerns regardless of their position or individual characteristics
- Monitor and encourage engagement and satisfactionÂ
- Monitor and encourage our culture to represent our guiding principles
- Act as Designated Person for issues around respect in the workplace
- Facilitate the forming of a committee to ensure the principles of diversity, justice, inclusion and equity are embedded in our operations
HR â 40%
- Review policies and standard operating processes for equity, compliance, accuracy, and readability
- Oversee and develop equitable compensation and benefits plans
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration
- File tax, insurance, and compliance paperwork as needed for all countries where we have staffÂ
- Optimize international employment structures for equity, efficiency, risk, and cost
- Manage recruitment, hiring, onboarding, termination, and offboarding process
- Document management
Performance Support â 10%
- Develop plan for equitable learning and growth opportunities for staff, including mentorship and training
- Manage regular reviews process
- Facilitate annual work plan development
- Assist supporters with performance improvement plans for their team
- Provide training to all staff as neededÂ
Supporting staff â 5%
- Support our Project Facilitator
Operations â 15%
- Ensure we have the systems, tools, and technology to optimally and securely support our fully remote work environment
- Plan retreats that strengthen collaboration, engagement and strategy
- Facilitate quarterly OKR and KPI settingÂ
- Monthly staff meeting coordinationÂ
- Support logistics
Strategy â 10%
- Contribute to organizational direction
- Evaluate organizational middels for culture and growth
- Analyze opportunities for optimizing operationsÂ
- Develop volunteer and fellowship program
Qualifications

Step 3 â min June: Top candidates will be invited to take part in an interview (conducted by video call)
Step 4 â late June: ACE will make a final decision and notify all remaining applicants
