Road to AI Safety Excellence

RAISE needs study group volunteers

There are many people in the LW-sphere that are ready to get into AI safety, but they don’t have an easy path forward. It is not easy to do AIS research, but we can at least make it as easy as possible. That’s why we’re creating an online course.

The kernel of the project is the study group. It’s a group of volunteers that come together over video chat a few hours per week. We take all the relevant papers and we summarize them, map the relevant concepts, divide the field into parts and create scripts. Those scripts are then used to create lectures, which end up in the course.

If you want to learn AI Safety to have a positive impact, this may be the best way to do it. You’re learning the content, and you’re doing direct work at the same time. With that in mind, we notice that it’s a lot easier to stay motivated and get really deep into the content.

Do you want to learn AIS, but you don’t know anything about AI? That’s fine. We need people both with and without a ML background. You’ll be sorted in the relevant team. Part of our project is how to best learn these prerequisites, so your contribution will be no less worthy.
